Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia To Open Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon At Sunway Lagoon In Malaysia

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia has partnered with Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia's premier theme park, to open Asia's first Nickelodeon-themed attraction!

Officially called "Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon", the first Nickelodeon themed land in Asia is due to open in mid-2015. "Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon" will be set amidst 10 acres of lush tropical rainforest to resemble a hidden world within a jungle "lost" to the public since 1997.

The result is a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors, unlike anything experienced before. "Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon" is expected to feature more than 12 attractions for fans and visitors of all ages, including a Rain Fortress – an interactive water play area using reactive technology, a Water Spray Area, Giant Aqua Tube Rides, daily signature slime deluges and a variety of other water slide attractions.

Ahead of the launch of "Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon", Nickelodeon opened a 1,700-square-foot Nickelodeon retail store at Sunway Lagoon in December 2014, becoming Nickelodeon's first retail launch in Asia.

Themed in Nickelodeon's signature orange, the one-stop Nickelodeon Store carries an extensive range of Nickelodeon merchandise, from t-shirts, slippers, stationery and school supplies to toys, apparel, Nickelodeon branded drinks, party items, home-ware and licensed products from Nickelodeon hit TV shows such as "SpongeBob SquarePants", "Dora the Explorer", and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

"As we continue our strategic relationship with Sunway, I am really excited that Malaysia is joining our growing list of international retail destinations, expanding the Nickelodeon branded experience in Asia," said Gerald Raines, Senior Vice President of Recreation Business Development for Nickelodeon.

"We have experienced a lot of exciting times here at Sunway Lagoon with over 20 years in operation, having provided a unique experience for visitors of all ages. The opening of the Nickelodeon retail store will certainly give families an exclusive opportunity to get a gist of what to expect from the upcoming Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, which will open in the first half of 2015," said Sean Choo, General Manager of Sunway Lagoon.

Sean also added, "The opening of this new feature cements our commitment to our visitors to continuously raise the bar in wholesome family fun for all ages at Asia's one-stop fun destination."

"Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon" will add to Sunway Lagoon's five existing parks, namely its Water Park, Amusement Park, Extreme Park, Interactive Wildlife Park and Lynton V Harris Scream Park. The 88-acre Sunway Lagoon is already home to Vuvuzela, the world's largest water ride and Waterplexx 5D, first 5D waterplexx in the world. It is also the only attraction in the world to win Asia's Best Attraction by International Association of Amusement Park and Attractions (IAAPA) for four consecutive years (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010).

Additionally, Nickelodeon has announced the opening of a brand-new "SpongeBob SquarePants" exhibit that will tour Taiwan through 2016!
