Power Rangers Samurai enters new territories

Saban Brands announces new European broadcast deals; brand now has over 100 licensees on board.


Saban Brands has put pen to paper on a raft of new broadcast and licensing deals for its Power Rangers Samurai property.

MarVista Entertainment, the exclusive television distributor for the brand, has secured broadcast deals in several new territories.

Fernando Szew, CEO of MarVista, said: "We welcome Mediaset’s Italia 1 and Boing in Italy, SIC of Portugal, Channel 9 in Australia, TV4 in New Zealand, and South Afrca’s E-TV to the Power Rangers Samurai family."

The series is also syndicated in Canada, France, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Uruguay.

Kirk Bloomgarden, SVP, Saban Brands, said: "Duplicating its number one status on Nickelodeon in the US, Power Rangers Samurai is forging ahead in the international market, with number one rankings on Nickelodeon in the UK and Mexico."

He added: "We have established a powerful team of strategic partners across the globe from distribution to broadcast and licensing – that continues to bring our vision for the brand to fruition."

Bandai are master toy partners with Namco Bandai providing interactive entertainment, while Mega Brands is also on board for construction toys.

New licensees in the UK and Europe include AABrands for apparel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; Aykroyd for apparel in the UK and Ireland; Big Balloon for publishing in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands; Blue Ocean for publishing in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; Blues Clothing for apparel in the UK and Ireland; GH Warner for footwear in the UK and Ireland; Minuto & Salomne Srl for umbrellas in Italy; Misirli for socks in the UK and Ireland; MV Sports for wheeled toys in the UK and Ireland; Parragon for books in the UK and Ireland; Prime for paper products in France; Leomil has a multi-territory licence for footwear; Belltex has a multi-territory licence for home goods; Rubies for costumes in EMEA; Sert-MST for health and beauty products in the UK and Ireland; Trademark Collections for luggage in the UK and Ireland; Van der Erve for apparel in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands and Wal-Cor Corsanini for accessories in Italy.

Bloomgarden said: "We are confident that Power Rangers Samurai will continue to resonate with fans worldwide as we launch the series on new channels, and debut new products in the coming months and into 2012."

Saban is currently developing a Power Rangers Live Tour to take place in the US and Europe over 2012 and 2013.
